Holidays in United States

Every public holiday and popular observance in United States, with dates, days left, days off and a live countdown to each one.

Dates follow each holiday's official rule. Governments occasionally move or add holidays, so check official sources before making plans.

US federal holidays are set by Congress. They apply to federal employees, and most banks and many businesses also close. When a federal holiday falls on a Saturday, it is observed on the Friday before, and on a Sunday it is observed on the following Monday. States can add holidays of their own, so days off vary by state and employer.
