Why the date matters

Offsets change during the year. New York is 5 hours behind London for most of the year, but for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap is 4 hours, because the US and Europe change their clocks on different dates. That is why this tool asks for a date and uses the IANA time zone rules for that exact moment. For more on this, read how to convert time zones.

Daylight saving edge cases

Twice a year, some local times are unusual. When clocks jump forward, a time such as 2:30 AM does not exist that day. When clocks go back, a time such as 1:30 AM happens twice. This converter tells you when you have picked one of these times and explains how it handled it.

To watch several cities at once, use the world clock.
