About National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30, honors the children who never returned home from residential schools, along with survivors, their families and communities. It became a federal statutory holiday in 2021. Many people wear orange shirts, as on Orange Shirt Day, held on the same date.
